Grandpa Amsbury in a Wheel Cap - A Daguerreotype with a Name/or maybe not*

            I love to have a name to go with a daguerreotype face. Sometimes there is a name written on the paper inside the case, sometimes there is a newspaper clipping, and sometimes a note that comes with the image. In this case a gummed label on the satin pad bears the hand written notation "Grandpa. Amsbury -". There are also other reasons to love this image. The large shiny, billed cap ( I am told it is a wheel cap or mechanic's hat), the wings of hair on either side, and the quizzical expression of the young person add to the appeal. There is also another element I have never seen in a cased image, blue and red lines embellish the mat. Were these part of the original or added by the descendant who added the label?

I am strating a sub set of cased images where I know (I think I know a name) with any information I can find on the internet. I wish the labeler had included a first name.

* There is a town in Massachusetts called Amsbury. If this is what the label means then Grandpa does not belong in my set. I still like him.
