stern of SS Great Britain - a photo on Flickriver

            The stern of the SS Great Britain is decorated with the coat of arms of the City of Bristol which depicts a ship leaving harbour.

Completed in 1845 to a design by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the SS Great Britain was the longest passenger ship in the world when first built, and the first large ship to combine both an iron hull and a screw propeller.

It is now a museum and sits in permanent dry dock in the Great Western Dockyard, Bristol.
