tower of the Palacio de Toledo-Moctezuma, Caceres

            The tower seen here is part of the Palacio de Toledo-Moctezuma.  Its construction began in the 15th century for the Toledo family and continued with alterations being made through to the beginning of the 17th century.

The link with the Aztec emperor Moctezuma II comes through marriage.  At the end of the 16th century, Mariana de Carvajal y Toledo married Juan de Toledo Moctezuma who was the descendent of  Isabel de Moctezuma, the daughter of Moctezuma II.
