Massif des Calanques # 2 - a photo on Flickriver

            ** I think these cliffs alone might have been a dull subject it was the vivid green trees above them against a Mediterranean sky that added the interest 

I took this shot during a very pleasant boat ride from Cassis in September 2018, it took us into a number of the Calanques . Seen from the small boat these limestone cliffs were very impressive. Between the city of Marseilles and the town of Cassis is the Massif des Calanques national Park that was created in 2012  it contains some beautiful coastal landscapes . 
A calanque is a narrow, steep-walled inlet that is developed in limestone, dolomite, or other carbonate strata and found along the Mediterranean coast. They are almost like mini fiords and are very spectacular. You can visit them either from the land or by boat.
