The Canadian is back! - a photo on Flickriver

            With a wave from the engineer, three VIA Rail F40's lead a consist of stainless steel Budd coaches southbound through the Don Valley, nearly five miles out from their final destination of Toronto Union.

Back in April of 2020, VIA cancelled their Toronto to Vancouver service due to low ridership and COVID-19 travel restrictions, using the interim downtime to refurbish and rebuild their aging fleet of coaches, diners, domecars, and sleepers to prolong their service life.

Having left Vancouver's Pacific Central station on monday, VIA no.2 arrived in Toronto friday in the late afternoon sun, disembarking the first trainload of passengers from the west coast this year.
