This is an exceptionally small ladder truck.  It appears that the longest ladder carried was a 40' extension.

When this apparatus was built the Ahrens-Fox factory complex was located at the intersection of Colerain Avenue & Alfred Street.  Roughly 100 feet from the factory at Spring Grove Avenue & Alfred Street were the quarters of Cincinnati Fire Department Engine 43, Truck 13 and District 3.  

This photo was taken on Alfred Street alongside the firehouse with the truck pointed back towards the factory.  Cincinnati Firefighters frequently posed with new Ahrens-Fox apparatus during the teens and twenties.
