Portsdown Hill - Red Sky Sunset - a photo on Flickriver

            From the top of Portsdown Hill you can see right across Portsmouth; Cosham, Fareham and Gosport to the Isle of Wight on the horizon.

This was taken from the viewpoint at Widley facing due west.

A red sky appears when dust and small particles are trapped in the atmosphere by high pressure. This scatters blue light and leaving only red light to give the sky its notable appearance.
