            St Clare Wightlink Ferry Silhouette.

The crisp lines of St Clare passing a yacht in the Solent. Passengers can be clearly seen on the top decks enjoying the warm sun. 

The panoramic glass bridge is in the centre of the ship so the captain can see fore and aft at any time. The cars load at the stern in Portsmouth then drive off the bow at Fishbourne. The cars from Fishbourne load over the bow and the ship does a 180 degree turn in the Solent to turn the bow back towards Portsmouth for the return journey. She then reverses towards the quay in Portsmouth so that the cars can drive off over the stern and the whole process begins again.

There is a hydraulic deck to raise up and provide two loading decks for vehicle transport.

The Solent is always very busy with all shapes and sizes of craft, military, commercial, leisure and industrial.

This shows "little and large" passing on a bright but hazy day.

No two days are ever the same in the Solent.
