            Banff, Alberta (7/11/17) - My usual research prior to a trip paid off big time on our visit to Peyto Lake. Nothing we could do about the unforeseen haze but I was ecstatic to find the "secret" spot was completely empty when we found it. I knew the main viewing deck would be teeming with tourists even that late in the day. Hiking blog I read provided clear directions to get to this spot where you get similar lofty view of the lake but away from the selfie sticks, noise, and the tour bus crowd. Lo and behold, the blogger was right. Had the place to ourselves for a good 15 min before another couple arrived. On another note, this site was also where one of our biggest arguments occured during the trip. And all I wanted to do was sit on that rock!
