Female Great Horned Owl Eating - a photo on Flickriver

            This female great horned owl is tearing at the carcass of a recent kill.  She is probably sitting on her nestlings in the nest that is located in hollow created by a large broken branch in the Reifel Sanctuary.  I was carrying my heavy gear along a trail when I came across a photo fest of photographers pointing their expensive cameras and lenses towards this beauty.  Delta, BC, March 2008.
