Aigai was the first capital of the ancient Kingdom of Macedonia.
The palace was constructed during the reign of Philip II, the father of Alexander the Great.
The archaeological site, which includes the palace and royal tombs, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The archaeological site opened to the public after 16 years of restoration in January 2024.
