The Very Last Amtrak “Kentucky Cardinal”, The Falls of the Ohio, Louisville, Kentucky

            Another long wait, but this time it's well worth it. It's 8.30 pm as I capture the arrival of Amtrak's train 850, the very last "Kentucky Cardinal" from Chicago as it reverses over the Ohio River and into Union Station on the far shore. Cancelled less then 2 years  after the service commenced, this was regarded by many as Amtrak's worst service, with a 12 hour transit time to cover a mere 312 miles.
