Tulipani al Castello di Govone - a photo on Flickriver

Nel parco del Castello di Govone, nel Roero, ha trovato il suo habitat naturale il tulipano ibrido occhio di sole, Tulipa Oculus Solis, portato in Italia e acclimatatosi perfettamente nelle campagne piemontesi dove era molto diffuso; con la meccanizzazione dell'agricoltura a poco a poco i bulbi sono spariti dai campi. Qui, nel parco del castello di Govone, in un'area che ora e' protetta, si sono invece riprodotti facilmente, e per una settimana l'anno offrono uno spettacolo stupendo, un vero tappeto rosso sotto gli alberi intorno al castello.

This flower is the Tulipa Oculus Solis, sun eye, that was very popular in north Italy in the field. After the use of the machinery from the farmers, the bulbs disappears: there is a place around the Govone Castle were they reproduced themselves very easily, and now the area is protected, and once a year for one week is possible to see around the castle thousands flowers all red like small fire.
