Lotus Café and Cardroom - a photo on Flickriver

For Throwback Thursday:

Little did I know as I shot this photo in 2015 that the sign would be taken down in 2018. It was the end of an era. A sad ending, indeed. Portlanders will recognize it and that's who I'm posting this for. The Lotus Café and Cardroom opened in 1924 and continued to be a popular nightspot until its closure in 2016. I'd taken numerous pictures of this old building as I passed by many times over the years. It was like losing an old friend.
