Catch of the Day!

            We paid a visit to Martin Mere WWT yesterday - after giving up on Friday, due to horrendous local traffic!  The highlight of our visit was seeing this Kingfisher which made several visits near to one of the hides.  Perhaps not a perfect shot - but I was surprised to capture this.

The Kingfisher emerged from a pool with what looked like a rather large fish for it to handle.  It struggled for quite some time trying to knock it out and get it into a position to swallow, eventually throwing it up in the air to get a better grip. It caught the fish (someone told me it is a Perch?) but still seemed to be struggling to eat it - it eventually flew off with it, so I'm not sure if it manged to eat it's catch.
