Nebulosa Iris e polvere interstellare - Iris Nebula and insterstellar dust

La nebulosa Iride, catalogata anche come NGC 7023, è una nebulosa a riflessione visibile nella costellazione di Cefeo: la stella che la illumina, e che ci permette di vederla, è una stella di settima magnitudine avvolta nella nebulosità assieme ad altre stelle meno luminose nate dalla condensazione di gas e polveri.
La distanza del complesso nebulare è di circa 1400 anni luce.

Tutto il campo attorno alla nebulosa è ricco di polvere interstellare, ben visibile nell'immagine sotto forma di "nubi" marroncine.

NGC 7023, also known as the Iris Nebula, is a reflection nebula in the constellation of Cepheus.
Probably the main star responsible for its illumination is a seventh magnitude star enveloped by the nebula, together with other less bright stars born from its dust.
The distance of this nebular complex is about 1400 light years.

All the area around NGC 7023 is rich in dust, visiblein the image like brown "clouds".
