Chateau de Haut-Koenigsbourg - a photo on Flickriver

            ll castello di Haut-Koenigsbourg è un castello imperiale situato sulla cima del monte Stophanberch (755 m), in Alsazia (Francia). 
La sua origine risale al 1114 su iniziativa di Federico II di Svevia. Dopo varie devastazioni, ricostruzioni e un lungo periodo di abbandono, venne restaurato all'inizio del 1900 per volontà dell'imperatore tedesco Guglielmo II di Hohenzollern che voleva farne un museo del medioevo oltre che un simbolo della potenza dell'impero (all'epoca l'Alsazia faceva parte dell'Impero Tedesco).
Nel 1919, col trattato di Versailles, i beni della corona tedesca passarono alla Francia, che divenne così proprietaria di Haut-Koenigsbourg.

Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle is an imperial castle located on the top of Mount Stophanberch (755 m), in Alsace (France). 
Its origins date back to 1114 on the initiative of Frederick II of Swabia. After various devastations, reconstructions and a long period of abandonment, it was restored at the beginning of 1900 by will of the German emperor William II of Hohenzollern who wanted to make it a museum of the Middle Ages as well as a symbol of the power of the empire (at the time Alsace was part of the German Empire).
In 1919 with the Treaty of Versailles the assets of the German crown passed to France, which thus became the owner of Haut-Koenigsbourg.
