LIFE BEHIND THE NYLON CURTAIN (»'t Oude Stadthuys«)

            The cafe-restaurant »'t Oude Stadthuys« (in the former old town hall) in Arkelstad, seen through the nylon flank of the skating rink tent, plus the glass framing of the restaurant porch.
Even through these three layers people were aware of my shooting action. 
This one was my first click. Immediately after that they started turning and gazing at me with disbelief and uncomfort. That's where the project stranded, at the very beginning. I used a small aperture as I couldn't predict how the autofocus would behave on these not completely transparent layers.

It's a metaphor of our lives divided by multiple transparent synthetic layers in the densest populated country of Europe. To compensate this (and the lack of sunlight), a special habit has been brought to life: the largest living room windows of any culture known on the Old Continent.
