NORTH MEET SOUTH: Fenek Monastery annual feast, Jakovo / Srem

            ꒌ   ЧАСНИ ОЦИ Василије, Рафаило и Јоаким из Манастира Подмаине као почасни гости на манастирској слави Манастира Фенек у Срему, за свету Петку (Параскеву), 27. октобра 2016. године Господње. Уз њих је локално свештенство и братство манастира домаћина, а иза (не види се на овој слици) народ који је до краја испунио манастирски храм.

► █░▓      VENERABLE MONKS of the orthodox christian monastery Podmaine in Montenegro and the local priests of northern Serbia at the height of annual local feast (Манастирска слава, престольный праздник). The cult of St. Paraskeve the New is held in high esteem at Fenek monastery, Srem region in Serbia, of which she is acknowledged patron saint. Venerable mother Paraskeve, in Serbia called Petka, has lived in 11th century and is revered also in Romania, Bulgaria and Moldavia.

Monastic clothing differs depending on the rank and the role of a spiritual father in a particular service. Captured here is the most solemn moment of the rite when the bread is offered for the blessing. Later on it will be hand broken to chunks and solemnly shared by the community at the end of gathering.

This image was taken by a fine camera & lens combo that got stolen from me the next year, much to my distress. Developed from raw in Affinity Photo 1.10.5. This is in my opinion a very underrated and still capable camera. It's been a crazy bargain for years, not popular but still best value period at today's second hand market. The SOOC jpegs can turn out dull, distressing and lifeless, but not in the high contrast conditions.  Snow scenery in particular appears perfect, the now antiquated software somehow gets the white balance perfect with snow and sun. And the raws are usable in all conditions.
