Elkhorn Slough - a photo on Flickriver

Elkhorn Slough

            This slough is near Moss Landing has some nice trails to hike and observe wildlife.  We were hoping to see some of the birds that come in here to feed, but we didn't have much luck.  The lady is the office told us to be careful because the ticks were out in full force.  She said to stay on the trails and to check ourselves every time we sit on a bench for them.  Well she was right, it seemed like every time I would put my camera bag down and put it back on I would find a tick wandering around on my clothes.  It sure made me paranoid every time I thought I felt something like a bug on me.  Luckily I was able to get them off of me before they could turn me into a meal.  The slough did have some nice views like this one.  I could see this being a great place to take pictures when the wildlife was more abundant.
