Dungeness Station and Light Railway Café. 1988.

            A birds eye view from the top of Dungeness Lighthouse with 15 inch gauge Bo-Bo Diesel No.12 'John Southland' in the platform with a RH&DR passenger service beside the 'Light Railway Café'. In the top left of the image can be seen the trackbed of the former standard gauge Dungeness branch which closed to passenger traffic beyond New Romney Junction south of Lydd Town station on 4th July 1937. The line was retained for freight traffic until 1952 as the Admiralty had sidings at Dungeness but was lifted soon after. A short remnant of the branch exists for 150yds beyond the site of New Romney Junction serving the BNFL loading point for Dungeness B Nuclear Power Station.
