Paffenwinkel-Bahn freight at Schöngau. Germany.

            B-B diesel hyaraulic 212 146 is seen shunting at Schöngau on the Paffenwinkel Bahn. The location was a gathering point for freight generated by sawmills, wood pulp and paper factories in the immediate area. The Holzwerk Pröbstl saw mills were north of here on the Fuchstalbahn at Asch-Leeder and the UPM paper mill in Schöngau south of the station being large users of railfreight. When this was taken there was also a freight branch at nearby Peiting Ost serving industrial units and a large wood furniture manufacturer although this short line has since fallen into disuse.
