Candelo (Candèj in piemontese, Canderium in latino) è un comune di 8.060 abitanti della provincia di Biella.

È un importante centro storico conosciuto per la presenza di un antico ricetto medioevale. (da Wikipedia)

Il termine ricetto, derivante dal termine di lingua latina receptum, definisce una struttura fortificata presente soprattutto nel territorio del Piemonte e destinata prevalentemente alla custodia dei beni prodotti dalla comunità (soprattutto prodotti agricoli e bestiame).

Anche se in misura minore, spesso serviva a fornire una protezione alla popolazione da eventuali nemici esterni. (VEDI)
