An Uninvited Guest Appears in the Garden

            As Oswald opens the champayne and the happy guests crowd around, a stranger appears in the garden. She is a tall, slim young woman with blond hair. She is dressed in unusual clothes and carries a very heavy-looking kit bag. She looks very weary as though she has been travelling for many hours. Gradually she makes her way to the front of the group. She gazes intently at Maimie who is watching Oswald as he uncorks the bottle of champagne  The interloper slowly steps forwards away from the group. Maimie suddenly becomes aware of her. She stares for just a few seconds and utters a cry. The two women rush forwards and embrace each other. They are laughing and crying all at once. Several guests mention the facial similarities between the two. Oswald's mouth suddenly widens into a large grin. It must be! He is certain. It is Juliette, Maimie's older sister, who she hasn't seen for the last six years, as she has been working as a children's nurse, alongside missionaries in China.
