            The former Royal Burgh of Ayr sits on the coast of the County bordering the Firth of Clyde on the west coast of Scotland and, as balmy as the weather can be, this is a bold take on beach holidays. The front cover to the 1961 official guide issued by the Ayr Town Council and published for them by Adcon Ltd. of Edinburgh.

It gives details as to the then many holiday attractions of the town; sport, recreation, entertainments and places of interest along with many adverts for local hotels and business concerns. It certainly shows how the use of the English language has changed in 60 years; I had never had Ayr down as being so giddy.
