Road Pence, Road Sense : the economic justification of roads : British Road Federation : London : 1952

            The British Road Federation was a lobby group, consisting at the time of 106 commercial organisations, that made the case for investment in Britain's road system and that were active between 1932 and 2000. They were, in the early post-war years, busy as road use for both private cars and commercial vehicles, was being heavily promoted and was occurring and Britain's road network was widely considered to be lacking in critical infrastructure. This booklet looks at the 'economic justification of road works', a paper given by C.T. Brunner (Vice-Chairman of the BRF) at the Ninth Congress of the Permanent International Association of Road Congresses held at Lisbon, Portugal, in 1951. It basically claims that capital investment in roads reapt economic benefits for both users and the nation.

The booklet was designed by William Stobbs (1914 - 2000), author and illustrator.
