            The 1953-54 edition of "Modern Publicity" opens with a section on 'sponsored radio promotion' that looks at mostly US press advertising in support of sponsored programmes, something we here in the UK were not much used to, and especially at the work of CBS - the Columbia Broadcasting System, one of the biggest US radio and television conglomerates. This press advert is in connection with a programme dealing with the issues of drug addiction especially that involving the misuse of heroin. The programme was "The Nation's Nightmare" and was broadcast across the CBS Radio Network via its affiliates.

The illustration is, in style, quite recognisable as being by Andrew Warhol. Best known as Andy Warhol (Andrew Warhola Jr., 1928 - 1987) is regarded as one of the leading US artists of the Twentieth Century and an exponent of pop art. He began his career as a commercial artist and it is from this period of his work that this illustration dates from.
