            An illustrated publicity folder issued by Ireland's Great Southern Hotels for their establishment at Killarney, County Kerry, and published in 1962 with a tariff from 1963 included. It gives details of the hotel, its services and amenities and the cover illustrationsshow the other establishments in the GSH group; these were at Kenmare, Parknasilla, Sligo, Galway, Mulrany and Bundoran.

Great Southern Hotels was effectively a subsidiary of the state transport undertaking CIÉ - Córas Iompair Éireann - and had been set up in 1961 to manage and operate what had the company's "railway" hotels. During the 1960s the somewhat old fashioned hotels were joined by several new ones constructed by GSH and that initially did well in the tourist boom of the '60s. By the 1980s GSH were in serious trouble and were restructed and re-financed in an effort to modernise the estate and its management. In 1990 CIÉ sold the company to fellow state business Aer Rianta who, in 2006, sold the hotels off and dissolved the company.

This hotel at Killarney - one of two - is still in business and now, after some years under another name, has been re-branded as the Great Southern Killarney.
