Simplicity - Cottingley fairies - a photo on Flickriver

            Another image from the Media Museum about the tale of the Cottingley fairies - a tale of utter simplicity that wasn't as simple as it sounded!  At the beginning of the 20th century two young girls borrowed their dads camera for an afternoon. When they got back home they told everyone that they had taken pictures of fairies at the bottom of the garden. The story became a nation sensation with the author HG Wells even declaring that he thought the images were real. In the 1970s when the girls were old ladies a TV programme was shown about the images and even then the women insisted that they were real fairies in the images. Only  on their death beds did they admit that they were fakes. Just imagaine what these girls could have done with Photoshop!!!
