170514 - a photo on Flickriver

170514

            Part of our garden is set aside for wild flowers but we are in a dull period at the moment. The early Spring flowers - primroses, daffodils, snowdrops, violets, bluebells, campion, milkmaids, wild garlic (The bluebells were Spanish from neighbouring garden escapes which, unfortunately, have wiped out our native bluebells).

There are both meadow and creeping buttercups in this view but most of the colourful stuff has yet to show up in full glory, - red clover, meadow cranesbill and aqualegia are out but don't really show up, there's campion, herb Robert and alkanet in the hedge in the background - the hawthorn is magnificent but out of shot, as is the stitchwort, dandelions and common daisies and moon daisies, speedwells (3 varieties) marsh marigolds, yellow pimpernel, yellow flag and water forget-me-not in the pond, hawkbit, tormentil, ground ivy, dogs mercury, comfrey, wild strawberry, yellow rattle.................

Actually there's a lot more  out in the meadow than you can see in the photo - I should have posed in a better spot.
