A Little Light Music - a photo on Flickriver

This year the FFF+ Group have decided to have a monthly challenge called "Freestyle On The Fifth". A different theme chosen by a member of the group each month, and the image is to be posted on the 5th of the month.

This month the theme, "light" was chosen by David (DaveSPN).

The afternoon of the day before the Winter Solstice, I was on a tram going past the the Edinburgh Gardens in North Fitzroy when I noticed the gardens\' band rotunda basking in the pale afternoon sun. I stepped off the tram and took a few photographs, however the light was fading. Therefore I went back a few weeks later at the end of a lovely crisp and sunny winter\'s day, and took these photographs. I really liked the dappled light against the bronze and copper cupola and the cream painted columns and steps of the rotunda.

The Edinburgh Gardens is a large park located in North Fitzroy. It was created from a grant of land in March 1862 by Queen Victoria and laid out by Clement Hodgkinson who designed many of Melbourne\'s parks and gardens.

The Peace Memorial Band Rotunda was built in Classical Revival style in 1925. Constructed of of brick and concrete, it is finished
with a cream render, and the bronze and copper domed roof is supported by eight Doric columns.
