Oakland "Sits Out the Curfew" in the Intersection of 14th + Broadway

June 3, 2020 - Starting at 8:05PM (curfew set for 8PM)

Huge diverse crowd sits down in the intersection at the heart of Oakland to make an unequivocal statement about the heavily militarized Alameda County Sheriff’s Department’s 8pm curfew order.

This action was organized by the Anti Police-Terror Project and 15 community organizations that stand as the 'pillars' of the Oakland community.  

From the organizers:
"We, The People of Oakland, and our allies and accomplices around the bay, DISSENT to the steadily encroaching FASCISM of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department’s 8pm curfew order!!! 

On Monday, thousands of youth took to the streets to peacefully protest the murder of George Floyd, Steven Taylor, Breonna Taylor and so many more.

This peaceful action was met with violence by the Oakland Police Department as they tear gassed our children following an announcement of a curfew MID PROTEST that the young people knew nothing about.

Our call for Wednesday night in response to the curfew is for ADULTS to come and sit in for our youth.

We highly encourage our young people to stay home or go to youth centered events

We have no interest in funneling more of our young people into the system.

We’ll be sitting down in the intersection of 14th and Broadway to say an unequivocal “F***k your curfew!” "
