            I missed the engine & coach move of A4 'Sir Nigel Gresley'  from Egglescliffe to Crewe yesterday but thought it apt to upload this 1967 image as the Gresley'' Pacific traversed the same piece of track locally.  
* Hard to believe in this day and age that this really happened but back in March 1967 4498 'Sir Nigel Gresley' was used on local stopping trains and parcels workings to give Lostock Hall men familiarisation with the LNER locomotive prior to a couple of railtours. Friend and former work colleague Eddie Bellass was working in Warrington Telephone Exchange at the time and sometimes would use the train to commute. His father was signalman in the Newton-le-Willows area and gave him the tip off the night before this working. He caught the train from the Earlestown curve platform and he recalled the locals were somewhat taken aback when the Garter Blue streamlined Pacific came round the bend and the guard had to convince them that indeed this was 'their' train!
