The Norton Commando was built by Norton-Villiers with an OHV pre-unit parallel-twin engine initially of 750 (745cc), in January 1973 the ‘Mk.5 Fastback’ was launched and the ‘Long Range’ discontinued foreshadowing the first 850 cc machines launched in April 1973. The ‘Roadster’, ‘Hi Rider’ and the ‘Interstate’ all began to use a new 828 cc. engine, which had similar power to the 750 cc models but were less stressed.

The 850cc models were introduced in early 1973as an alternative to the 750 ut as the sole option from late 1973. All 850 models were fitted with a front disc brake. The 850 Mk.II was introduced from 1974

This bike was described as an unrestored barn find which will require some recommissioning before road use
