Introduced at the 1954 Earls Court, London Motor Show. With a BMC C series straight six with a single Zenith carburettor and a output of 85bhp. Independent front suspension using coil springs and wishbones, and leaf spring and anti-roll bar on the rear live axle. Transmission is a four speed column change which from 1955 had an optional overdrive. Austin did make a four speed floor change Police car version.

Motor magazine road tested a de luxe saloon in 1955 and recorded 85.7 mph top speed, and a 0-60mph time of 18.9 seconds with a fuel consumption of 20,2 mpg the test car cost £ 834 including taxes.
