Pre-WW2 Adler produced motorcycles and a range both front and rear wheel drive cars, Production ceased during hostilities, with motorcycle production resuming in 1949, while car production ceased. Post war Adler offered a range of 98cc two stroke followed by improved 123cc, 147cc, 195cc and 247cc designs

The Adler MR100 Junior, was introduced in 1955 adopting the trend for an all enclosed machine in the vein of the Scooters being introduced in Italy. Although the 98cc Adler Junior was more a fully enclosed motorcycle, it featured a three speed foot change gearbox, telescopic suspension with hydraulic dampers, and came with an electric starter. Its body was fully enclosed with access panels for the battery and fuel filler and though a relatively heavy machine seated rider and pillion passenger

The Adler company was sold to Grundig in 1957, (and later Olivetti in 1969) which led to the end of motorcycle production from 1959.

As part of war reparations to the Allies, Adler motorcycle designs were ceded to Britain. There was a strong denial from Ariel that their Leader and Arrow enclosed design motorcycles aped the Adler design.
