Birmingham Cathedral (St. Philip's) - a photo on Flickriver

            Modern sculpture at its best.  Peter Ball of Newark has taken a simple wooden railway sleeper and fashioned it into the cross and figure of Christ crucified.  The copper and bronze foil complements the darkness of the wood in presenting a Christ of pathos and suffering yet ‘reigning from the tree’.
