Pasture electric fence--wire and insulator. As usual, I was striving for a good composition. Also, I like the sharp focus on the threads and the vivid color contrasts. Seems to create a slight 3D effect. 
For Nikon DX camera owners: 
Test labs give this inexpensive 40mm (60mm FF equivalent) f/2.8 Nikon lens high marks in sharpness. This is often one of the bonuses of a fixed focal length "normal" lens. Also, the lens can macro focus down to an amazing 1:1.
