            Animal Vegetable or Mineral Theme:
This image is a painting done in hardstone marquetry created in Florence in the 17thC. This pietra dura work, marquetry and Boulle marquetry (brass & tortoisehell) are very closely akin to jigsaw dissection and were done with similar tools! This makes it perfect for the theme of Animal, Vegetable or Mineral - it uses slices of natural and treated minerals to create the illusion of animals and plants.

This is the largest Puzzle Michele Wilson I've tackled to date. Just completing the edge took two sessions and this is 'some time later' - the first time I bothered taking a photo. The image is a busy, difficult one but the line-cutting is the usual 'wandering approximation'.
