Intercourse in Pennsylvania - a photo on Flickriver

            The village of Intercourse was founded in 1754, but it was then known as "Cross Keys"...too bad they didn't retain that name.  In 1814, the name was changed to  "Intercourse", highlighting a place of "fellowship, conversation and support."

Many Pennsylvania villages and towns have unusual names (by today's usage of the words.). For instance our hotel was in the adjacent village of "Bird in Hand".  Intercourse, an unincorporated village, is in "Leacock Township" of Lancaster County, where many Amish families call home.
