Tyntesfield House - a photo on Flickriver

Tyntesfield House

            This Victorian Gothic Revival house is located in Somerset and is a grade 1 listed building which provides legal protection from demolition or major alterations without prior approval from the Local Authority. 

It was completed in 1863 and the 106 rooms with a private chapel and extensive land were the home of business man William Gibbs. He had amassed a huge fortune from guano (bird droppings) imported from South America for use as fertilizer.

In the 1970's it was purchased by the National Trust who restored it on behalf of the nation.
