Museum Voorlinden Collection 1&2 - a photo on Flickriver

Ron Mueck makes hyper-realistic human figures, which he elaborates down to the smallest detail. They seem to be made of flesh and blood, but because of their scale they become fairytale giants. With Couple under an Umbrella (2013), the artist depicts ordinary people, but exactly twice as big as us. Yet they are not portraits of real people. There is something universal about them: every spectator can identify with them, despite their unusual size.
