The House of the Venus and the Sea Shell, Pompeii

            Another sketch inspired by my reading "The Wolf Den" by Elodie Harper. The book has several scenes which take place in well appointed Pompeian house with gardens surrounded by a peristyle and small rooms, including the main character's meeting with Pliny, the Roman admiral. This town house takes its name from a large mural painting of the goddess  Venus being blown across the sea on a large shell.
