            M40 Vanguard

The M40 Vanguard, or Vanguard IFV, is an American infantry fighting vehicle that is a member of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle family. It is manufactured in part by BAE Systems Land & Armaments and entered service in 2080, with fielding beginning shortly after.

The Vanguard is designed for reconnaissance and to transport a nine-man rifle squad, providing them with protection from small arms fire while delivering suppressive and lethal firepower to counter threats to friendly infantry. It is designed to be highly maneuverable and fast enough to keep up with modern armored formations during an advance. The M40 holds a crew of three—a commander, a gunner, and a driver—while carrying six fully equipped soldiers as passengers.

By the late 2070s, the total cost of the M40 program was estimated at USD $80–100 billion for 3,000+ units, giving an average unit cost of $25–35 million.
