Dunollie Castle (15) - a photo on Flickriver

            Having come up the stairs from the ground floor, this shot shows the 1st and 2nd floors, which were not vaulted.  The barred opening on the right is the original 1st floor entrance.  Within the shadows to the left of this opening, a stair climbs up within the walling to the 2nd floor, which is said to have been the Hall.  There would have been a garret floor at the top within the parapet.  The parapet was reached via a spiral stair within this corner of the tower, probably emerging at the dark opening shown here (see notes on photo).
