9F at Cardiff General - a photo on Flickriver

            I've now finished scanning all my negatives taken between 1967 and 1975 on my father's old pre-war Voightlander camera, and have now made a start on scanning the surviving negs taken with my first camera. This was a Brownie 127 given to me on my 11th birthday. I'm quite happy with this one - the result of a bit of work in Lightbox. 9F no 92207  on freight passes Cardiff General  some time in 1964.

92207 was built at Swindon in 1959, its first allocation being to St Philips Marsh. By 1964 it was shedded at Southall, but moved to Ebbw Junction in November 1964. I'm not sure when my pic was taken, but it looks like a sunny day! 92207 was withdrawn just 4 weeks after moving to Newport, and arrived at Barry scrapyard a few months later, in March 1965. 21 years later it became the 180th loco to leave Barry for preservation when it was taken to the East Lancs Railway at Bury. This info was taken from Alan Warren's book "Barry Scrapyard - the preservation miracle".

92207 is one of the nine Class 9Fs in preservation, seven of which were purchased from Barry scrapyard. It is one of the 4 that have yet to steam in preservation (the others being 92134/219/245). It is now at the Shillingstone Railway Project - Shillingstone being a station on the former S&D line - and is still under restoration.
