DMUs at Leamington - a photo on Flickriver

DMUs at Leamington

            The stabling sidings at Leamington on 4 October 1987 contain 2 x dmu sets and Class 31 no. 31127. I didn't record the numbers of the dmu sets, but the set on the left is clearly T324. At that date (according to railcar.co.uk) this would have consisted of Class 116 vehicles 53053 and 53101 plus Class 115 trailer 59672. 53053 was new (as 50053) in May 1957 and was allocated to Tyseley (TS) for the whole of its working life. It was withdrawn from service in May 1995 and was scrapped by MC Metals in Glasgow. 53101 was new (as 50101) in August 1957 and was withdrawn in January 1994. It was also scrapped by MC Metals. 59672 was new in July 1960 and was withdrawn in July 1960. It was scrapped by Booth Roe in Rotherham.

31127 was originally numbered D5543 and was new in July 1959. It was withdrawn from service in December 1994 and was scrapped at EMR, Kingsbury, in May 2001.
