Marina at the lineside - a photo on Flickriver

            In 1989 Mrs B and I decided, as we were both very busy with our jobs, to become a 2-car family. We already owned a black Austin Metro, and I (after much deliberation) bought a yellow Morris Marina - registration number CUT 543T. My Marina is seen here parked next to the WCML at Roade, where I had taken my then 5-year-old son for a trainspotting session. In just over an hour we saw 1 x Class 31, 3 x Class 85, 9 x Class 86, 5 x Class 87 and 4 x Class 90 - not a bad haul!

My pic shows 86225 "Hardwicke" passing on the up Northampton line with CUT 543T in the foreground. 86225 was new, as E3164, in August 1965. It was withdrawn from service in July 2002 and was scrapped by Ron Hull Junior in Rotherham in April 2006. I don't know what happened to CUT 543T!
