Flickriver

            Class 27 diesel loco no. 5401 at Rothley, on the Great Central Railway, during a GCR diesel gala on 19 March 1994.

D5401 was built by the Birmingham RC & W Company in 1962 - it's first allocation was to Cricklewood (14A), but, in common with the other Class 27s, it was transferred to Scotland, where it would spend the rest of its BR career. It became 27112 under TOPS (locos used on the Glasgow-Edinburgh push-pull service retaining steam heating), and was then renumbered to 27056 in 1982 after this service was taken over by Class 47/7s. 

27056 was withdrawn from Eastfield (ED) in May 1987 and moved into preservation. It was a mainstay of services on the Northampton & Lamport Railway for the first years of this railway's operations but can now be found on the GCR.
