31003 at Stratford - a photo on Flickriver

31003 at Stratford

            I had a photo session at Stratford on 4 July 1977, including a visit to Stratford depot. There was still plenty of work available for the Class 31/0 sub-class, and I saw  nine of them on this day. 31005/007/012 were on Stratford depot, and 31002/004 were seen passing the depot on freight workings. 31006 was seen at Liverpool St removing the ecs from an earlier Harwich boat train which had arrived behind 37130, 31003/008 passed Stratford station on freight workings and 31013 was seen running light engine.

My photo shows 31003 arriving from the Temple Mills direction with a goods train I noted as being bound for Bow - presumably I noted it at Bow on my way back into Liverpool St. 31003 had been new, as D5503, in 1958. It was withdrawn from service in February 1980 and was scrapped at Doncaster works in April 1980.
